About

The blog

This blog has been created to provide advice and guidance on issues related to pc performance, computer system errors and security.  There is an ocean of information that can be presented on these topics and the intent is to not be washed away in a wave of information but to address one item at a time.  You will be able to seek the topics you choose using the archiving system and the search functionality seen here on this page.

We welcome feedback on each and every post that we present.

A little about me – your blog contributor

My experience in Information Technology and in computing goes back a few decades now.  I can recall the large main frame computer we used when I took a FORTRAN course.  I typed a single program on hundreds of punch cards and would have to feed these into the machine.  It is difficult to recall the details now and of course this dates me considerably.  I do remember not being very tech-minded at the time.

Through the years I did not keep up with these early computer programming courses but I did get my first computer some time around 1989.  What a novelty!  It didn’t seem like there were many people that had home computers at the time.

Since those days I have slowly immersed myself in computing until I took on a full career in computer technology.  I began by writing enough exams to get my MCSA (Microsoft Certified System Administrator) certificate.  Those were some of the hardest multiple “guess” exams I have encountered.  After finishing my certificate program I began working as an IT administrator.  This involved some internships which lead me to a full-time job as a technical writing.  This has been a good fit for me as I see myself as a type of technical translator: I translate programmers sophisticated software to new users who are used to seeing poor grammar and incomplete instructions.  Or is this just me?  I hear that no one ever reads help files anyway?  Nevertheless, in this blog I will present clear instructions in step form where applicable.

It is refreshing to be able to offer this blog as a way of presenting some of the interesting information that I come across.  I will do my best to keep it as accurate and current as possible.  This said… I encourage you to do more research and to stay informed.  It is my feeling that a well informed and educated general public means that those who utilize computing technologies will benefit from a more satisfied computing experience.  I hope you feel the same.
